Congratulations, You're A Manager!
..but you are starting to wish you hadn't got your new role. You feel like you don't have the tools to handle the challenges that come with leading and motivating a group of people and this is starting to make you feel unhappy. You're starting to wake up dreading Monday mornings and you have been finding it more and more difficult to switch off at the weekends. Loved ones have noticed you're less fun to be around but you don't feel able to tell them why this might be.On the surface you act like you know what you are doing and this is starting to feel exhausting. For the first time in your career you are starting to feel like an imposter and that's an uncomfortable thing to admit to yourself.
The Transition From Individual Expert To Team Manager Can Be Hard
You probably already miss the days when you could focus solely on your own tasks, tasks you really loved and enjoyed, without the added weight of responsibility you feel from managing others.
You might be starting to feel frustration, and even resentment, towards your new team because they are adding pressure on top of your existing workload, without realising it. This is causing you stress and new levels of overthinking, (especially at 2am in the morning). Maybe you've even started to snap at colleagues when all they are asking is how things are going with your new role.
You know these feelings aren't okay, especially so early on in your first management role, but you are struggling to work out what to do about it.
You've watched the TED Talks and bought the books...
Simon Sinek and Amy Edmondson are great writers and speakers, but no matter how much you agree with what they say, it isn't helping you work out how to become a more confident (and happier) manager. The problem, is that there is so much good content out there, but trying to benefit from all that knowledge feels like 'trying to drink from a fire hose' (which is not that easy to do when you think about it).Even your manager, the one that probably helped you get promoted and has got your back, isn't able to support you because they've got their own workload and packed diary and they haven't got the time, or the energy, to mentor you.
What's needed...
.. are the key concepts, tried and tested tools and behaviours, distilled and curated, with a clearly defined pathway on how to apply them to your context
..are experienced mentors who have the time and headspace to guide you through the learning process
..is a coaching community of managers that have successfully made the transition into being effective and confident team leaders and who want to support you (because they know what it feels like to be in your situation and they value the process of continuous reflection and learning through helping others).
We Have Built A Course For Managers Just Like You
When you’re promoted into a management role for the first time you begin a journey of leadership development that is as exciting as it is overwhelming. Our course and community for new and aspiring managers will set you up for success.
You will have a framework, a playbook, for how to manage and lead your team with confidence. You will be acting like you know what you're doing because you know what you're doing!
You will no longer feel resentful about the additional workload you have as a manager. Instead, you will feel that being a manager is worth the effort, because you are achieving your goals faster and more efficiently than ever before.
You will let go of your need to be seen as the expert and move fully into being 'responsible for the people that are responsible for the job'.
As you become more confident, your relationships with your team members and your fellow managers will get stronger. Loved ones will see this positive change in you. You will finally believe that a long and successful leadership career is possible.
From those that sponsored a new manager
Jacqueline, Boston Consulting Group
This course has been so helpful for my newest line manager in the team! I really saw a big transformation happening during the course. Besides taking a lot of hands-on tips away for day-to-day, she gained a lot of confidence to really step into the shoes of being a manager, leading her team and also dealing with less comfortable situations and conversations. Nick and Hazel are great facilitators and bring a lot of their own experience of managing businesses and people into this. I cannot recommend this course enough!
Grace, Global People Lead, Bable Smart Cities
Several colleagues joined this course. They were all very enthusiastic and have been able to put all their pragmatic learnings into practice with their team. The communication from Nick and Hazel has been incredibly helpful and they were able to tailor the course to our needs. Nick has reached out to us several times to support individuals, beyond just the course. Our team leads have gained great leadership insights and have been guided very well along the way. We will provide new team leads with this course and continue our journey with Go Slow to Go Fast.
From our course participants
Lianne, Senior Product Designer, Zopa
It’s more than a training course. It’s manager training and manager therapy all rolled into one. It’s incredibly refreshing to learn, practice and grow in this way. I feel honoured to have been part of a learning experience like this. The course is loaded with information and references you can keep coming back to. The thing I appreciated the most was the engaging and safe space during the weekly lives that Nick and Hazel created. I would recommend this course to any manager or leader, not just those that are new to the responsibilities."
Merijn, Lead Product Developer
"Very patient, calm and inspiring instructors with loads of experience who will make sure you are able to turn your learnings from this course into practice, no matter the context you find yourself in. I now have a place to go to find specific tools and solutions. I will keep this course in mind for anyone that wants to learn more about team management and leadership."

"I can't recommend this course highly enough. If you're looking to cut through the crap and get the real insights on leadership and teams then do this course with Hazel and Nick, who've got way more than their 10,000 hours."
Anna, Client Partner
"Two of the greatest minds when it comes to teaming and two of the nicest, most fun people to work and learn with. If you’re a manager of a team then get swept along on a journey with them - lucky you and you’re welcome!"
How it works
Our 12 week course has applicable content you can use straight away. By following our purposefully designed process, you will transform, step-by-step, into a more confident manager who understands how to build a more productive, happier team.
Your onboarding starts as soon as you register, with pre-course content that establishes the key concepts and themes we will be referring to throughout the course.
You will then have access to a combination of carefully curated content, real-world case studies, our hard learned 'management tips and tricks' plus easily applied team development tools, dripped in bi-weekly modules to give you the space and time to apply your learning, to reflect and contextualise and to re-apply with more confidence (the core principles of learn-by-doing).
You also get access to weekly, live meet ups with the founders of Go Slow to Go Fast, held online in your learning platform. Is English not your first language? We have worked internationally for decades so understand how to support you. Co-Founder Hazel is also a native Spanish speaker.
This is not just another self-paced course. We have built this live community and live meet ups as an essential component to your unique learning journey, guiding you to define the manager you want to be.
We ask you to invest at least 4 hours per week to get the maximum benefit from this course and community experience. Your time is precious. Let's make it count.
Our Managers' Network
We know that a community is essential to making your learning on this course ‘stick’, long after your course ends. This is why our offer includes a year's subscription to the Go Slow to Go Fast Managers' Network, an exclusive, dedicated space where you can share with managers like yourself, to support and unblock each other’s challenges. You can even start engaging with your new community as soon as you register on your course.
Our weekly live meet ups are hosted by one of the Go Slow to Go Fast team each Friday where we facilitate a discussion to field your questions and concerns so you can get real insight into whatever issues you are dealing with.
We host your community within your course platform, to give you a tailored, ad free experience, away from the noise and distraction of social media (i.e. it's not a Facebook group ), so your involvement is focused and worthwhile.
